Saddle hunting kits are great when you are first getting into saddle hunting. The consist of all the important gear you'll need when starting out. There can be a ton of confusion and overwhelming information when trying to get into the mobile hunting game, but in this article, we will cut out all the B.S and get straight to the point.
Before we explore what a saddle hunting kit is and what we recommend, here are a few questions to ask yourself.
- Do you want USA Made gear?
- Do you already have sticks?
- What is your budget?
These 3 questions can help narrow down which saddle hunting kit is best for you. If you do not want or care for USA Made gear, then do no read any further as we will not be a good fit for you.
If you already have sticks, the good thing is you only will need a platform and the saddle hunting kit.
If you are on a strict budget, again we are not for you. We would highly suggest looking into XOP, as they are very budget friendly and sells great beginner saddle hunting kits.
Basics of a Saddle Hunting Kit
How to Choose a Saddle Hunting Kit

If you are starting out with nothing, you have 2 options. First, you can buy a saddle hunting kit that includes a pack of climbing sticks and a platform.
Second, you can buy a saddle hunting kit that doesn't include sticks and a platform and buy the sticks and platform elsewhere.
I recommend buying a saddle hunting kit without the sticks and platform, as there are better options out there in that category you can buy rather than what is included in the kit. This also gives you more flexibility to control exactly what you want.
Let's say you want a premium saddle and pouches, but want a cheaper option when it comes to a platform and sticks? Thats where a basic saddle hunting kit such as the Praxis Elite kit and pairing it with an XOP platform and sticks. Not only do you get a kickass saddle with pouches, but you get a budget friendly sticks and platform that is known for its lightweight and bite factors.
Saddle hunting kits with sticks and a platform are a great starting place when first getting into saddle hunting. All I'm saying is there are better options out there with sticks and platforms that isn't included with the saddle hunting kit you want.
How to choose a saddle hunting kit?
- Kit with Sticks and Platform: Best for just getting into saddle hunting with no gear or knowledge of what to get.
- Kit without Stick and Platform: Best for getting the exact saddle, stick, and platform setup you are wanting to get.

BullPath Saddle Hunting Kit

What comes with the BullPath Saddle Hunting Kit ?
In our BullPath Saddle Hunting Kit, it includes:
- Praxis Hunting Saddle
- 2 S.A.M Rope Pouches
- Tree Tether
- Lineman Rope
Praxis Hunting Saddle
The Praxis hunting saddle is included in our Elite Saddle Hunting Kit. 100% American Sourced and Sewn, it is packed with features and offers the minimalist style for someone that wants to be light going in. It features the following:
- Traverse mode, to be able to walk in with the saddle on easily
- Contoured seam to sink into the saddle
- Bungee connectors to keep saddle in traverse mode and doubles as stick attachments
- 100% American sourced and sewn
The Praxis is built for extreme efficiency and mobility. When I first started designing this saddle, I wanted something that could fold in half when I was walking into the woods, so I could get rid of the annoying problems I was having with other saddles when walking. That's where the traverse mode come into play, flip the bottom portion up, lock it into place, and you'll be surprised how free range your legs are.
Second, it's a minimalist type of saddle. Less fidget factor equals less movement in the tree. There is not a lot of things you have to adjust with the Praxis saddle. I personally like to have complete stillness when I hunt, so I intentionally made the Praxis saddle as comfortable as it can be without unnecessary custom adjustments.
The bridge of the Praxis saddle is made up of Teufelberger Resc Tech Rope with Amsteel girth hitches on both sides. This allows you to adjust the bridge on both sides. This will accommodate left and right-handed people to adjust the bridge. The rope itself is expensive but made with highly quality. In fact, its way better than a traditional Amsteel bridge.
Finally, every portion of this saddle is sourced from American manufactures that make the textiles, and sewn altogether in Mansfield, Ohio. Our single panel saddle might be the most expensive single panel on the market, but you are also getting 100% American made saddle all the way from the fibers in the stitch, to the badge, down to where it's even sewn. On top of all that, you'll receive a warranty like nothing else. We stand behind our products.
S.A.M Pouches

2 S.A.M Pouches are included in the saddle hunting kit as well. S.A.M (Stiff and Mighty) were created to provide easier access to your stowed rope. Made out of 1000D Cordura or 500D Multicam, the stiffness of the fabric allows the pouch to not have the top portion fold in on itself while putting rope away.
- Stiff construction for easier access and stow abilities
- Silent enclosure
- Expanding front and back pockets
- 100% Sourced and sewn in America
To keep cost low, we offer our entry level dump pouches in our saddle hunting kit. The S.A.M Pouch was created to prevent the pouch from folding in on itself when trying to store rope away. The closure of the pouch is made up of Cordura. This allows the pouch to remain open and provide structural integrity.
On the pouch you'll have two expanding mesh pockets, one on the front, and one on the back. This allows you to carry extra gear, and accessories that is crucial for saddle hunting. You can fit a backband, a pocket saw, etc.
Just like any other dump pouch, the closure is silent. But ours is unique, the drawstring can be switched on both sides of the pouch. This allows you to use the pouch on whichever side of the saddle that you want, if you only have one S.A.M Pouch.
Tree Tether and Lineman Rope
It is absolutely essential to have a tree tether and a lineman rope when you are saddle hunting. That is why we included it into our saddle hunting kit.
Both of our ropes are made from the leading industry rope company, Sterling. Both ropes also have sewn eye loops that are also sewn from Sterling themselves.
A Lineman rope is what gives you the ability to go up and down a tree safely. It also helps you go hands free, while setting up your climbing sticks, and platform. Without a lineman rope you wouldn't be able to set up your saddle hunting gear in a tree.
A tree tether is also included in our saddle hunting kit. This piece of rope is what sets you in securely at hunting height. without a tree tether, you would not be able to saddle hunt.
Conclusion
Our saddle hunting kit is made for those who want a premium 100% USA made saddle hunting kit. This gets you in the game to start mobile hunting and will give you confidence knowing you have the most demanded for and premium made gear, you will ever use in your life. If not, we will pay you back.
Accessory Essentials for a Saddle Hunting Kit Purchase
Some items are crucial when saddle hunting:
- Saddle suspenders
- Saddle hunting backband
Saddle suspenders in my opinion are crucial to wear. No matter what you do when wearing a saddle, they will always eventually creep down. Majority of saddles including our own Praxis, have suspender connection points. When you connect a pair of suspenders and wear it with your saddle, this prevents any part of your saddle from creep down. This is super critical, so you can be as comfortable as possible, and to prevent any time wasting with tightening your saddle back up.
Backbands are also a critical piece of gear. A backband as an individual panel, that can be deployed anywhere on your back side to provide more comfort and stability. The cool thing is, the backband is not a part of your saddle, so it can be stored away, and used at any given moment.
